Isabelle Ringnes is the co-founder of #Hunspanderer, a social movement addressing subtle discrimination and gender stereotypes. #Hunspanderer has had two successful campaigns in Norway, reaching millions of people on social media and engaging CEOs across Norway’s most influential companies to champion the issue. Following the campaigns, #Hunspanderer decided to act on the need for action and solutions. Due to the lack of proven solutions for increasing diversity, Isabelle co-founded #ShesGotThis, which works in collaboration with Norwegian organizations and research institutions to find evidence and fact-based solutions for increasing diversity. Through a technological plattform #ShesGotThis helps companies map their gender imbalances and provides solutions to improve based on best available research.
Isabelle founded TENK in 2015, a Technology Network for Women aiming to inspire women and girls to lean in and contribute to shaping our world’s future with technology. TENK has reached thousands of women, toured Norway to speak to more than 4,000 high school girls with NHO, and co-established an annual national Girl Tech Fest teaching middle school girls coding skills and a Tech Summer Camp for high school girls.
In 2016, Isabelle left her job at Schibsted Media Group after winning the SU Global Impact Challenge, making her the second Norwegian to attend the prestigious Singularity University Global Startup Program (formerly the Global Solutions Program). In 2017, she organized the Global Impact Challenge and sent another two Norwegians to SU.
Isabelle is one of Inspiring Fifty Nordic’s most inspiring women in tech and one of the “100 most influential people in Nordic tech” appointed by Slush and The Nordic Web. She’s been nominated for several awards, including “”Inspiration Award 2017,”” “”Girls Award 2017″” by Plan Norge, and “”Digital Super Profile”” in 2016, and was appointed a “Distinguished Alumna” at the New School, where she’d graduated with a Masters in media management two years earlier.
Isabelle produces a weekly podcast called Future Forecast in which she discusses technology, leadership, and sustainability with leaders and experts around the world. Isabelle is a highly sought-after speaker and best-selling author about unconscious bias.
Isabelle’s love for technology is rooted in its vast opportunities and unique ability to empower each and every connected human being to make a positive difference in the world.
The world is changing faster than ever, right in front of our eyes. If we want to be the leaders who lead that change, we need to include people who see the world differently. Despite our generous efforts to survive the next technological revolution, we are approaching it from the wrong direction. Tech is the easy part. Humans, unpredictable and diverse as we are, are more difficult. In this talk, Isabelle Ringnes discusses diversity, explains why you should be prioritizing it, and shares how you can work to create a more inclusive culture and improve diversity in your organization.
