Kent’s personal massive transformative purpose is to Apply Technology for Humanity. He is an entrepreneur, sought after speaker, teacher, mentor and advisor. Kent has an intense focus on all things technical, data and exponential. He works with clients globall. Kent runs his own company providing Data Activation as a Service, is faculty at Singularity University, and is the Chief Science and Technology officer of the Fastrack Institute, a global 501(c)3 private foundation. Kent also teaches the live online ExO Master Course with Salim Ismail.
Kent is a deep technologist and builder of distributed systems. From complex large scale web applications to live stream based analytics solutions, Kent has been building such systems from the ground up at scale for over 15 years. He’s a recognized thought leader in cloud computing, distributed systems, technology operations, and data science enablement for organizations.
Kent’s keynote talks have been requested by some of the most successful public, private, and academic institutions in the world. He has spoken in Asia, South America, The United States from Silicon Valley to New York. He has addressed crowds from 10 to 10,000 people including live simulcasting of events. Data is a powerful driver of transformation and innovation for any organization. It is a strategic asset and has a unique combination of attributes that make it powerful. This talk is about how organizations can be transformed via Data and Data Science using a Data Activation framework. It will inspire you with case studies and knowledge to transform your relationship with data and data science. The knowledge you gain will help you put data to work for your organization. You will gain insights into data’s attributes, key processes, and technologies needed. Then, you will have the next steps you need to transform your organization using the power of data.
Companies or students will receive a thorough executive level non-technical presentation on data, big data, data science and the state of the art possibilities.
We will dive into your data, your past and current efforts and explore the needs and problems of your organization.
We will have an in depth set of live technology demonstration of the most cutting edge technologies available today and follow up discussion about these technologies.
Students/Companies will have an interactive hands on workshop drawing on all of the information from the previous work and producing real ranked and detailed next best steps for action.
Exponential Data growth is drowning companies of all sizes in data. All businesses must adapt to survive and learn how to find and leverage the data they create and consume to be competitive. To adapt they need to understand data, have a framework for harnessing data effectively and understand the types of insights they should expect to gain.
Students of this talk will learn to adapt, better understand and apply data across every part of their organization to stay competitive. With the right data, processes and technologies companies can create immense leverage for people to perform at 10x their usual impact. Main Talk Components:
The Significant Seven – These are seven key attributes of data that you must know to be able to effectively marshal it inside your organization. It is these attributes that make data exponential.
Data Lifecycle Framework – This is a custom framework developed by Kent over dozens of companies and clients and many years. It brings clarity to the people & processes required to effectively marshal data in your organization to reap the benefits of the Significant Seven attributes
Observations from the Field – 10 key observations about data, data science and its impact on business from real customer engagements inside organizations after working with the framework(#2) and learning the significant seven. Several of these observations are also from Singularity U alumni.
60m time slot with 35-40 minutes talk + 20-25m minutes for Q&A
This is an introduction to Exponential Organizations. Students will learn what an MTP is. They will learn about the 10 attributes of an ExO. They will learn the impact that approaching their business from and ExO mindset can have.
“An Exponential Organization (ExO) is one whose impact (or output) is disproportionately large— at least 10x larger— compared to its peers because of the use of new organizational techniques that leverage accelerating technologies.” — Salim Ismail, Author, Exponential Organizations
Several mini-case studies and real world stories will be told to illustrate exponential organizational impact on organizations that operate like them or have embraced on becoming an ExO.
Main Talk Components:
A a summary that meshes well with other SU speakers very briefly summarizing drivers that are causing a need for organizational change
Overview of the 11 ExO Attributes MTP first and deepest then the other 10 with examples
Tools that can get you on your way
This is an interactive deep dive into some of the most effective processes and technologies available today for doing real data science at scale. Students are provided with live demonstrations of machine learning(AI), engaging discussion, a lot of reading homework for take away, latest algorithms review, tools and some data science workflow how to guides.
This talk covers how that cutting edge of data science will dramatically impact all businesses in the coming years, and show how you can prepare. There will be a particular focus on the extraordinary power of the “Deep Learning Network” algorithm, which has made huge strides in the year in nearly all areas of data
This is a very technical talk and not for the technologically faint of heart.
*This talk can also be expanded into a 1-2 day workshop very effectively either on-premise or off. Ask me for details. I’ve run them very successfully before.
