Since her start with Apple Computer, Heather has been launching whole new ways of living and doing – communication technologies, education technologies, photography and journalism tools. Her true north has always been technology for good.
At SU, Heather leads SU Country Partners, a global network of organizations who steward the SU brand and serve as the primary hubs of SU vision, localized programs and impact. SU Country Partners are core to SU’s global strategy; they work across the SU ecosystem with local SU community chapters. Many of them also produce the well known Singularity Summits in their regions.
Heather has deep strategy, marketing, and partnerships experience. She has been a Partner in a thriving educational technology strategy consulting practice that serviced start-ups and industry leaders such as Disney, Discovery, Microsoft, Oracle. She has rich operational experience as the VP of marketing/sales at two early stage start-ups, the second of which was acquired by Apple. In 2008, she noted the need for more attention to sustainable business practices, and became an internationally recognized journalist and photo-documentary producer covering business and sustainability.
Prior to joining SU, Heather worked to launch and scale two new practice areas at McKinsey & Company: pre IPO companies and IOT. She ultimately moved to McKinsey’s Social Impact group, focused on the workforce employment gap, where her charge was Head of Global Marketing across 11 countries in five continents.
Heather has a degree in English Literature and Computer Modeling from Dartmouth, an MBA from the Tuck School of Business, and an executive certificate in Sustainable Business from the Presidio Graduate School. She’s been an active advisor to Acumen, G100, and served on the boards of a leading national land trust, The Society for Environmental Journalists, the Presidio Graduate School, and a global incubator for environmental non-profits. When not in lands afar, you can find her chasing high country wilds and first tracks in Colorado.
