Sara Austin is a learning experience designer at SU. While she was finishing her B.S. in Business, she accidentally launched her career in education with a role in a grant-funded project teaching basic computer skills to lobster fishermen and women and farmers. It wasn’t long before she was hooked and made the decision to pursue education as a career.
She started her design work as an Instructional Designer at Saint Joseph’s College before spending several years as a freelance designer and project manager, developing online and hybrid courses for educational institutions, companies and non-profits.
She graduated from the University of Maine with an M.Ed in Instructional Technology and from the University of New England with an Ed.D in Educational Leadership. Her research explored the impacts of biblical literalist belief systems on learning outcomes and educational attainment.
When she isn’t designing for SU, you’ll most likely find her building and remodeling or trying to keep up with her husband, four children and two English Mastiffs.
