SingularityU Canada is the Newest Country Partner
SingularityU Canada will create a platform that brings together uncommon partners to have strategic conversations and collaborate on our collective future
TORONTO, CANADA / MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF., USA – February 28, 2018 – Singularity University (SU), the global learning and innovation enterprise that educates individuals and organizations on accelerating technological change, has announced SingularityU Canada as the newest SingularityU country partner. SingularityU Canada will work with established businesses, entrepreneurs, and future innovators to create new opportunities for innovation and impact in Canada and around the world.
“We’ve been working with a grassroots movement of distinguished alumni and a group of forward-thinking Canadian organizations to establish SingularityU Canada,” said Rob Nail, CEO and associate founder of Singularity University. “Canada is a recognized global leader in many areas of technology and innovation, including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, blockchain, and energy. Our intent with the new country partnership is to build on these achievements and create new opportunities that can drive local and global impact.”
Canada is the third country partner for Singularity University. This adds to the organization’s growing global network of business partners, which currently includes SingularityU Nordic and SingularityU The Netherlands. SU collaborates with in-country leaders to bring SU programming and perspectives to local executives, entrepreneurs, policy makers, thought leaders, and more.
“By establishing a permanent SingularityU presence in Canada, we are building a two-way bridge that will expose more Canadians to global leaders working on the cutting edge of technology and share the very best of Canada with the world,” added Oren Berkovich, president and CEO of SingularityU Canada. “With today’s announcement, Canadian leaders and organizations now have the opportunity to become members of SingularityU Canada and uncover the BIG ideas, mindsets, skill-sets and networks that they need to remain relevant and resilient in our ever-changing world.”
Last October, the inaugural SingularityU Canada Summit brought together local leaders in technology, business, and innovation to explore the impact of exponential technologies on the world’s most pressing issues, including privacy, finance, healthcare, citizenship, and the environment. As a continuation, by establishing SingularityU Canada, organizers will further discussions and actionable steps to address these issues.
“Canada is starting to live up to its potential to drive global impact across many different fields. Our biggest risk is not thinking big enough. By building SingularityU Canada, we are creating an effective tool to convey a sense of urgency and inspire Canadians with the confidence and mindset to take on the biggest challenges facing our country and our world,” said Salim Teja, executive vice president, MaRS Ventures.
The SingularityU Canada Executive Program, scheduled for April 30-May 3 at Ravine Vineyardnear near Niagara on the Lake, will be SingularityU Canada’s first event. The SingularityU Canada Executive Program is designed to focus on the exponential trends, topics, and challenges that are most important to Canadians in a unique classroom environment. Speakers include a mix of SU faculty from around the world, including newly-appointed, Canadian-based faculty and a curated group of senior leaders from across the country.
“We are excited to be a member of SingularityU Canada and to actively collaborate to bring strategic thinking and an exponential mindset to more Canadians,” said Liz Stretch, chief people officer, ATB Financial.
