Seven New Chapters and Seven Renewals

SingularityU Chapters Now Total 107 in 57 Countries, Facilitating Tech for Good

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – April 25, 2018 – Singularity University, a global community with a mission to educate, inspire, and empower leaders to apply exponential technologies to help solve humanity’s grand challenges, has announced the creation of seven new community Chapters, and seven renewal Chapters, bringing the total of SingularityU Chapters worldwide to 107 in 57 countries.

New SingularityU Chapters have been formed in Newcastle, Australia; Vitoria, Brazil; Shenzhen, China; Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic; and Northwest Arkansas, Detroit, and St. Louis in the U.S. Additionally, seven renewal licenses have been issued to existing SingularityU Chapters in Amsterdam and Rotterdam in The Netherlands; Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil; Modena and Rome in Italy; and Kyiv in Ukraine. You can read about these local Chapters in their founders’ own words on Medium.

In 2017, SingularityU Chapters hosted 320 events around the world, attracting more than 25,000 participants focused on employing technological innovation to improve the quality of life in their communities and around the world. Chapter application and review occur quarterly and the SU Q2 Chapter application process is open now for innovators interested in joining the SU mission by establishing a SingularityU Chapter. Visit su.org/chapters/apply to learn more. The application is open from April 25th through May 16th, 2018.

SingularityU Chapters form the foundation of the Global SU community

“SU collaborates with its global ecosystem through Chapters, which are locally organized communities focused on social good and exponential technologies,” said Dharmishta Rood, Singularity University’s Senior Program Director of Community Leadership. “Through events hosted by SingularityU Chapter leadership teams, with individuals of diverse professions including entrepreneurs, policymakers, designers, academics, and business and NGO leaders, SingularityU Chapters assemble experts from around the world who advance the use of technology in a number of sectors including medicine, learning, security, energy, and water. Participants in these local communities share SU’s mission to help solve humanity’s greatest challenges through the use of technology.”

SU welcomes applications for new Chapter submissions every quarter. At least one member of the proposed Chapter leadership team must have participated in an SU activity, such as the SU Executive ProgramSU Incubator, and/or SU Ventures, and been inspired to empower innovators in their local communities. Chapter leadership teams represent a diversity of perspectives and experiences, and demonstrate community-building skills that align with overall SingularityU Chapter goals.
