Braincare Breakthrough Makes Tracking Brain Pressure Simple for Improved Global Health
In medicine, there is a prevailing belief that the brain is a rigid structure that can only be diagnosed by opening it up and inserting a sensor to see what is really going on inside. This approach is not only invasive but also expensive and not widely accessible.
Founded by a Brazilian professor and physicist who was misdiagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Braincare developed a new, non-invasive device for monitoring the brain. Initially, the startup aimed to sell the devices to make a profit.
However, in 2016, Braincare’s founder attended Singularity University’s (SU) annual Exponential Medicine conference. At the event, he realized the tremendous impact Braincare could make in the medical community and on patients and made key connections with people who could help the startup enter the U.S. market. Armed with this knowledge, he applied and was accepted to SU’s Startup Accelerator, now part of SU Ventures.
