John-Clark Levin is research lead for Google AI visionary Ray Kurzweil. At Kurzweil Technologies, he conducts foresight about the roadmap to artificial superintelligence, including focus on applications to the life sciences. This work was featured in Kurzweil’s The Singularity Is Nearer, which became an instant New York Times bestseller last summer. He is also the senior advisor for AI at Greenmantle, Sir Niall Ferguson's macrostrategy advisory firm, and regularly advises governments, NGOs and Fortune 500 corporations on issues spanning both technical and policy dimensions of AI. For the past decade, John-Clark has studied AI and its impacts at Harvard and Cambridge, and has lectured at dozens of institutions including the U.S. Naval War College, RAND, and the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk. His commentary has appeared in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, TIME Magazine, and MIT Technology Review. In personal pursuits, John-Clark constructs crossword puzzles for the New York Times, writes humor for McSweeney’s, and performs stage magic as former president of the Cambridge University Magic Society.
