I am an expert in climate tech investing, innovation, commercialization and acceleration. Currently the Head of Philanthropic Partners and Co-founder @ Third Derivative (D3), the largest climate accelerator in the world (a project of Rocky Mountain Institute). D3 now has the largest cohort of climate tech startups in the world, a $2M SPV to fund portfolio companies which have raised $680M in external funding, $4T in market cap across corporate partners and $8B in deployable funds across VC partners.
I started the New Energy Network, which is an open community one of the largest networks of climate tech entrepreneurs and funders in the world (join here: http://bit.ly/_JoinTheNetwork_ ). I have sourced and facilitated deals for hundreds of climate and hard tech companies that now are valued at $500M+ USD.
I am the author of “Accelerate This! A Super Not Boring Guide To Startup Accelerators and Clean Energy Entrepreneurship”, sponsored by the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, World Wildlife Fund, and New Energy Nexus, and featuring Y Combinator, Techstars, 500 Startups, Google X, and other innovation programs around the world.
Every week seems to bring conflicting messages of somehow both hope and despair around climate and our collective future on this planet. What’s the deal, what are the opportunities, and should how we feel about all of this?! In this presentation, you’ll get a macro view of the whole climate picture, the progress made and the challenges ahead, and get a sense of the amazing innovation that’s driving the change.
